Why should you sponsor an event with the chance of never seeing a return on your donation? This event benefits the Valmeyer Active Firemen's Association in memory of Melvin J. Fisher who gave of himself to this organization, the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department and many other organizations in the community and surrounding areas. Our goal with this event is to bring many different individuals, groups, organizations and causes together that were important to Melvin during his time as a community servant in Valmeyer. As a life long adult member of the community, Melvin realized, in a small community, one person could make a difference. Many hats had to be worn by some of the same people. Stepping forward to become a leader of actions and idea's is important in a small community. Although the community is just a short drive from a major metropolitan area, safety is imperative. Our hope is that with sponsorship this will become an annual event in Melvin's memory. Our goal is to promote Fire Safety Week in conjunction with the fire department. No matter where people live, work or travel, a need for fire safety and emergency response personnel is just a phone call away. It's a call that no one wants to make or get, and hopefully the training will never be needed. Why should you be a sponsor?
