On September 25, 2010 at 8:00 AM the 6th Annual Hills and Hollows Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk/Wheelchair Event will take place in Valmeyer, Illinois. This event is dedicated to the memory of Melvin J. Fisher, who on September 1, 2004 lost his life in a battle with cancer. For thirty years, Melvin volunteered his time to the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Dept and other organizations. In five years, the event has donated more than $23,000 to BackStoppers and the Valmeyer Active Firemen’s Association.
Our mission is to promote Fire Safety Week in conjunction with the fire departments in the area. Through the help of generous sponsors like you, the success of this event will provide funds for essential education and training for local fire department members. We are also proud sponsors of BackStoppers, Inc., which supports families of fallen fire and police department members, who lost their life in the line of duty.
